Daniel Harding returns to the Chicago Symphony Orchestra

/02 November 2023

Tonight marks the first of Daniel Harding’s four performances this week with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra conducting Holst’s The Planets, Schumann’s Overture to Manfred and Brahms' Schicksalslied with the full Chicago Symphony Chorus.

The performances follow Daniel’s April release on BR Klassik of The Planets with the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks, which was declared “a revelatory performance” by The Guardian, who also hailed Daniel as “a force to reckon with”. Listen to the album below.

The end of the month sees Daniel return to the US for three concerts with The Cleveland Orchestra. On the programme is Mahler’s Symphony No.4 paired with the US premiere of Betsy Jolas’ Ces belles années..., which was co-commissioned by the orchestra along with the London Symphony Orchestra and the Festival International d’Art Lyrique d’Aix en Provence
