Beethoven Violin Concerto in D major, Op. 61, Bruckner Orchester Linz conducted by Markus Poschner
Brucknerhaus LinzMay 2024It would have been impossible to imagine a better soloist for Beethoven's only violin concerto than the 24-year-old Armenian violinist Diana Adamyan. She has already won prestigious prizes in her international career and is one of the leading artists in her field. Gentle and sensitive, she brilliantly mastered even the difficult top notes, which fell crystal clear like stars from the sky. With modesty and restraint, she gave in to the request for an encore, played with incredible virtuosity... The audience waited in vain for more but she seemed to have gone. She will not, however, be forgotten.

Göttinger Symphonie-Orchester, Sibelius Violin Concerto in D minor, Op. 47 conducted by Nicholas Milton
GöttingenOct 2022A phenomenal young violinist...From the very first note of the Sibelius concerto, Adamyan played her way into the hearts of her audience with fervent passion. She possesses enormous technical skills, her intonation is perfect right up to the highest harmonics, and her dexterity is brilliant. In addition, she has the ability to draw great musical arcs, to work out the details meticulously without losing sight of the whole, to build up dramatic climaxes, to allow lyrical beauty to blossom - and all with a wonderfully varied tone... She plays with great passion, giving the emotion just the right space without allowing the music to slip into simplistic sentimentality. Her awareness of shaping and clearly contoured form never lets her down... Loud bravos mingled with the roaring, highly deserved final applause for a performance which most listeners will probably remember far beyond this evening.

Diana Adamyan returns to the Hamburger Symphoniker for her Elbphilharmonie debut

This weekend sees Diana Adamyan make her Elbphilharmonie debut when she returns to the Hambuger Symphoniker. Diana joins the orchestra and conductor Sylvain Cambreling for Bruch’s Violin Concerto.
The performance follows Diana’s debut with the orchestra at the Laeiszhalle when she stepped in for their New Year’s concert – again performing the Bruch. Her performance was celebrated by the Hamburger Abendblatt, who said, "Diana Adamyan…thrilled the audience with a depth of tonal expression and command that one could only admire. She celebrated the Adagio movement with all the intimacy and passion of an operatic aria. And with her Nicolò Gagliano violin, she dominated long stretches of the work with playing that was technically flawless, but also alive with surprises."
The Bruch was on the programme when Diana performed her First Prize-winning performance at the Menuhin Competition, a video of which can be viewed below.
