International Conducting Competition Rotterdam names three Askonas Holt Fellows as Designate Winners

Luis Castillo-Briceño, Jakub Przybycień and Miguel Sepúlveda have been announced as Designate Winners of the International Conducting Competition Rotterdam. The three Askonas Holt Fellows make up half the full cohort of six young conductors selected for a year-long career development programme, culminating in the finals in June 2025.
Following last week's semi-finals, the six Designate Winners will next year conduct five rounds in genres from opera to symphonic works with ensembles including the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, Klangforum Wien, Orchestra of the 18th Century, and Laurens Symphony Chorus.
The three young conductors are no strangers to international competition; both Jakub and Miguel were semi-finalists at this year's Malko Competition, with Luis reaching the semi-finals of the German Conducting Award earlier this season.
The inaugural competition in Rotterdam in 2022 saw former Askonas Holt Fellow Bertie Baigent take the Grand Prix along with the Classical and Symphonic prizes.
All rounds from the semi-finals are available to watch here.
