Myung-Whun Chung returns to Filarmonica della Scala
Myung-Whun Chung returns to Milan this week to conduct three symphonic concerts with Filarmonica della Scala. Replacing an indisposed Maestro Chailly, Maestro Chung offers an amended programme of Schubert’s Symphony No.8 Unfinished and Beethoven’s Symphony No.7.
Earlier this year, Maestro Chung made his much-anticipated return to New York to conduct the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra and Maxim Vengerov at a sold-out Carnegie Hall. He returns next month to Paris for an all-Beethoven programme featuring Martha Argerich with Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France.
This summer sees Maestro Chung and the China National Centre for Performing Arts Orchestra make an appearance at the Edinburgh International Festival in collaboration with Askonas Holt, performing a programme of Saint-Saëns Symphony No.3, Chen’s Wu Xing and Ravel’s Piano Concerto in G major with soloist Bruce Liu.
