Askonas Holt is delighted to welcome Germán Olvera to the roster for worldwide management.
The Mexican baritone made his Glyndebourne Festival debut last season singing Count Almaviva in Le nozze di Figaro under the baton of Nicholas Carter, which resulted in re-invitations for the next two festival seasons. He will also appear as the Count for his return in June to Staatsoper Hannover, where, as a member of the ensemble, he has sung a variety of roles including Don Giovanni, Escamillo, Figaro in Il barbiere di Siviglia, Belcore in L’elisir d’amore, Marcello in La bohème and Anthony in Sweeney Todd.
This season also brings two performances as Ping in Turandot – at Teatro Real Madrid, and alongside Kristina Mkhitaryan and Juliana Grigoryan in Barrie Kosky’s new production at De Nederlandse Opera. Next month he also appears at the latter as Boxer in the world premiere of Alexander Raskatov’s Animal Farm.
Germán studied at the Centre de Perfeccionament at Palau de les Arts in Valencia where he made his European debut as Lescaut in Manon Lescaut conducted by Placido Domingo.
He will be managed at Askonas Holt by Fabiana Dalpiaz and Ruby Robinson.
