This Friday sees Karina Canellakis make her debut at Opernhaus Zürich conducting an innovative staged production of Verdi’s Messa da Requiem, choreographed by Christian Spuck.
During the second half of the season she returns to Europe for debuts including the Swedish Radio Orchestra, Rundfunk Sinfonieorchester Berlin, Orchestre National de Lyon, Royal Scottish National and the City of Birmingham
Symphony. Further afield she re-visits the Hong Kong Philharmonic and makes her first appearance at the Hollywood Bowl with the Los Angelea Philharmonic.
In May 2017 Karina will conduct Peter Maxwell-Davies’ community opera The Hogboon with Luxembourg Philharmonic, a co-production with the London Symphony which premiered at the Barbican under Sir Simon Rattle last season.
She has already received a re-invitation from Opernhaus Zürich and will return in September 2017 to conduct The Magic Flute. Karina conducts Verdi's Messa da Requiem on 23 December 2016, 1 and 8 January 2017.
