Askonas Holt is delighted to welcome Marin Alsop to the roster for management in Europe, Asia and Australasia.

One of the foremost conductors of our time, Marin is the first woman to head major orchestras in the United States, South America, Austria and Great Britain. Currently, she is Chief Conductor of the ORF Vienna Radio Symphony, and Artistic Director and Chief Conductor of the Polish National Radio Symphony, alongside positions as Principal Guest of the Philharmonia and Philadelphia orchestras.

She recently extended her contract as Chief Conductor of the Ravinia Festival, and holds the titles of Music Director Laureate at the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra (where she spent 14 years as Music Director and founded their OrchKids programme) and Conductor of Honour at São Paulo Symphony where she was Music Director from 2013-20. As the first Music Director of the National Orchestral Institute + Festival (NOI+F) at the University of Maryland, Marin recently launched a new academy for young conductors.

Having made the record books as the first woman to conduct the Last Night of the Proms, as well as the first female and first American to lead it three times, this February Marin again makes history as the first US-born woman to conduct the Berliner Philharmoniker leading the world premiere of a new commission by Outi Tarkiainen.

The 2023/24 season brought her long-awaited Metropolitan Opera debut conducting John Adams’ El Niño, and last month saw a return to the Edinburgh International Festival conducting the Philharmonia orchestra and National Youth Choir of Scotland Girls Choir in the UK premiere of Julia Wolfe’s Fire in my mouth.

The only conductor to receive a MacArthur ‘Genius’ Grant, Marin has been honoured with awards from the World Economic Forum, Royal Philharmonic Society, Association of British Orchestras, and the universities of Harvard and Cambridge. She was elected a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in 2008 and to the American Philosophical Society in 2020. Marin is Founder of the Taki Alsop Conducting Fellowship whose mission it is to mentor, support and promote women conductors as they advance in their professional careers.

Marin will be managed at Askonas Holt by Jo Fry and Dora Michael in collaboration with Tom Cunningham as General Manager at Opus 3 Artists.
