The Opéra national de Lorraine on Friday announced the extension of their collaboration with Music Director Marta Gardolińska to the end of the 2025/26 season.
Following her debut with the opera in 2020, Marta took up the position in the 2021/22 season, and has since led performances of Zemlinsky's Görge le rêveur, Messager's Fortunio, Paderewski's Manru, Verdi's La Traviata and Haydn's La Création. She will conduct both symphonic concerts and opera productions, and is keen to further the Opéra national de Lorraine's commitment to outreach.
The renewal of the partnership will see Marta conduct both symphonic concerts and opera production each season. It will also enable the opera to continue its outreach activities, in addition to their journey through musical Europe at the time of Art Nouveau, highlighting the historic link between Nancy and Poland through the development of Polish repertoire, as well as the development of the Romantic lyrical repertoire.
Next month sees Marta conduct the Opéra national de Lorraine Orchestra in an evening of R. Strauss and Debussy. That same week she makes her subscription debut with the San Francisco Symphony in three performances of Mendelssohn’s Symphony No.3 ‘Scottish’ and Elgar’s Cello Concerto with Pablo Ferrández as soloist.
