The Orquesta Sinfónica del Principado de Asturias (OSPA) this week announced the extension of their partnership with Chief Conductor and Artistic Director Nuno Coelho to June 2027.
The decision - made by the institution’s Governing Board in December 2024 - comes during Nuno’s third season leading the OSPA, a period marked by major artistic milestones and featuring an international roster of renowned soloists and guest conductors, further developing the institutions’ artistic reputation.
As part of Nuno’s artistic and strategic vision, the last three seasons has seen the orchestra expand its presence both within and beyond Asturias, with performances at prestigious venues and festivals including the Festival Internacional de Santander and the Bal y Gay Festival.
In parallel, the OSPA has deepened its commitment to social and educational outreach through initiatives that include collaborations with various music and dance conservatories and the organization of the International Orchestral Conducting Masterclass.
Alongside his commitments in Asturias, Nuno continues his regular collaborations with the Gulbenkian Orchestra, Tampere Philharmonic, Antwerp Symphony, Stavanger Symphony, Uppsala Chamber Orchestra and Orquesta Nacional de España among others. He makes his Berlin debut this summer conducting Spain’s National Youth Orchestra (JONDE) at the Konzerthaus Berlin.
