Peter Sellars stages St John Passion

    /24 February 2014
Following the great success of the realisation of the St. Matthew Passion directed by Peter Sellars at the Salzburg Festival and Berlin Philharmonie in 2010, audiences in Berlin will be able to experience his approach to Bach’s St. John Passion in three sold out performances on 27, 28 February and 1 March at the Berlin Philharmonie. The St. Matthew Passion was a very moving and stripped back semi-staged production, which, according to the Berliner Zeitung provided "the most moving concert and music theatre event of the season", with the soloists all receiving star studded reviews.  The soloists involved in the upcoming St. John Passion (with the exception of Roderick Williams) were in the St. Matthew Passion interpretation, which doubtless will lead to another impressive collaboration.

Conducted by Simon Rattle, and featuring Magdalena Kožená, these concerts promise to be something not to be missed.
