    • It helped in these latter works that the BCMG musicians was so responsive to the direction of Gabriella Teychenné, whose activity with London-based Sinfonia Humanitas has rightly been attracting plaudits. She was wholly justified, too, in having begun the second half with the First Postlude (1981) by Valentin Silvestrov – the Ukrainian composer’s homage to his Russian forebear Shostakovich, whose ‘strength through calmness’ is a potent reminder of music’s ability to reach across boundaries to a degree exemplified by this evening’s concert.

  • Marriage of Figaro

    Lucerne Symphony Orchestra, Luzerner Theater
    Oct 2021
    • (Gabriella Teychenne)pushes the comedic hustle and bustle along with bouncy accents and rapid tempi (a whirlwind at the fortepiano: William Green). But she creates a sound of astonishing fullness and warmth, transparency and depth, indeed a tone of longing, to which even the dim light of the unified stage suits.

    • The Lucerne Symphony Orchestra under the musical direction of Gabriella Teychenné plays a highly concentrated evening with a rich sound.

    • The Lucerne Symphony Orchestra gives them the ideal support and plays with verve under the leadership of the young conductor Gabriella Teychenné.

    • (Gabriella Teychenne) conducts the excerpts with drive and with all the joy of accents so sonorous that the finale of the 2nd act of the Mozart opera becomes a lavish party with all the singers

    • Conductor Gabriella Teychenné’s task might have been thought thankless, but she ensured fine co-ordination between stage and relayed orchestral score.
