About Jack
British conductor Jack Gonzalez-Harding works this season as assistant conductor for Sir Simon Rattle with the Lucerne Festival Orchestra, Berliner Philharmoniker and the Czech Philharmonic; Thomas Adés with the London Symphony Orchestra; Robin Ticciati with the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment; Sir Mark Elder with the BBC Symphony Orchestra at the BBC Proms and as assistant and cover conductor for Glyndebourne Festival Opera's production of Il turco in Italia. With his own ensemble, Barbican Sinfonia, he returns to the Mayfield Festival, performing Wagner's Siegfried Idyll, Mozart Sinfonia Concertante and Beethoven Symphony No. 3 Eroica.
Next season, Jack will take up the Conducting Fellow position with the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra. He will assist on a variety of repertoire across the season, as well as joining the orchestra on tour, and make his conducting debut with his own programme. Future plans also include his conducting debut at Glyndebourne Festival Opera, where he will conduct both opera and concert productions.
Born in 2003, Jack trained as a keyboardist and studied at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Highlights as a keyboardist include lieder recitals at the Wigmore Hall, continuo with the Academy of Ancient Music and a tour of Bach’s Goldberg Variations, with excerpts live on BBC Radio 3. Jack receives mentorship from Sir Simon Rattle and John Carewe.
