Navasard Hakobyan was the winner of the Metropolitan Opera’s Laffont Competition 2024, The Dallas Opera’s National Vocal Competition 2024, 3rd Prize Winner and winner of the Don Plácido Domingo Ferrer Prize of Zarzuela at the 2023 Operalia World Opera Competition.

Besides his recent accomplishments on the competition stage, Navasard is a current studio member at Houston Grand Opera.

This 2024/25 season, as a young artist at Houston Grand Opera, Navasard will sing Schaunard La bohème and cover the role of Wolfram von Eschenbach Tannhäuser. He will make his house debut at Dresden Semperoper for multiple performances as Marcello La bohème. On the concert platform, Navasard sings Escamillo in a concert performance of Carmen with Corpus Christi Symphony Orchestra.

Last season saw Navasard make his role debuts as Sharpless Madama Butterfly at Houston Grand Opera and Gregorio Romeo et Juliet at Dallas Opera. He gave his first European recital in Prague and was a participant in the Young Singers Project at Salzburger Festspiele where he sang in the Young Singers Project Final Concert and in Prokofiev’s The Gambler.

Previous highlights and roles include his role debuts with Yerevan Opera Theater as Silvio in I Pagliacci and as Germont in La traviata. He also performed as Antonio in Il viaggio a Reimswith the Armenian State Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Mkrtich Babajanian. This collaboration with the Armenia State Symphony Orchestra continued in 2019, where he performed in concert at the New Names Festival, conducted by Harutyun Arzumanyan. Navasard has also sung in modern compositions such as the Julliard-commissioned Oedipus in the District by Joshua Getman, where he performed the role of Anchor in the original presentation. He has also enjoyed participating in masterclasses with Dale Findling of Teatr Wielki as well as Gevorg Hakobyan and Hovhannes Ayvazyan of the Honoured Artists of Armenia.
