About Nicole

Born in Kharkiv, Ukraine, mezzo-soprano Nicole Chirka studied with Alexander Vostryakov at the National Academy of Music in Kyiv. During her studies, her roles included Laura in Iolanta, Maddalena in Rigoletto, Marcellina in Le nozze di Figaro, Olga in Eugene Onegin, and Lyubasha in excerpts from Rimsky-Korsakov's The Tsar's Bride.

Nicole made her professional debut at the Kyiv National Opera in 2020 as Olga in Eugene Onegin. Since the 2021/22 season, she has been a member of the Young Opera Ensemble at the Semperoper Dresden, where her early roles included the Third Lady in Die Zauberflöte, Kate Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly, the Kitchen Boy in Rusalka, and the Governess in Pique Dame.

During the 2024/25 and 2025/26 seasons, she expanded her repertoire at the Semperoper Dresden with appearances as Olga in Eugene Onegin, Meg Page in Falstaff, Hänsel in Hänsel und Gretel, Das Kind in Das Kind und der Zauberspuk (L'Enfant et les sortilèges), Flora Bervoix in La traviata, Marta in Mefistofele, Sœur Mathilde in Dialogues des Carmélites, Mercédès in Carmen, and the Zweite Dame in Die Zauberflöte.

In the 2026/27 season, she appears as Mercédès in Carmen at the Semperoper Dresden.

Nicole is based in Dresden, Germany
