About Polina
Assistant Conductor, Ensemble Intercontemporain
Polina Lebedieva is a vibrant Ukrainian conductor whose career is gaining international momentum. From January 2026 to January 2028, she will serve as Assistant Conductor of Ensemble Intercontemporain, one of the world’s leading contemporary music ensembles.
25/26 season highlights include debut with the Orchestre du Pays Basque in October 2025, where Polina was immediately reinvited for the following season, and an upcoming performance with the Berner Symphonieorchester in November 2025. She was also reinvited to the Lviv National Philharmonic, appeared at the Les Étoiles du Classique Festival in Saint-Germain-en-Laye, and served as assistant conductor for Madama Butterfly at the Covent Garden Opera Festival in London.
Polina was a semi-finalist at both the Mahler Conducting Competition in Bamberg and the International Conducting Competition Rotterdam, and a two-time finalist for the Prix Fabuleuse Signature, celebrating women artists of foreign origin in France. She was named a Britten Pears Young Artist 2023–2024, participating in the Royal Opera House’s “The Conductor as Dramaturg” programme.
Polina has collaborated with a wide range of ensembles, including the Berner Symphonieorchester, Orchestre du Pays Basque, Lviv Philharmonic, Orchestre National de Cannes, Philzuid, Kurpfälzisches Kammerorchester, Gstaad Festival Orchestra, London City Philharmonic, Odessa National Opera Orchestra, and the Youth Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine, with whom she opened the Bachfest Leipzig in 2022.
