Kilts, high notes and love triangles

    /13 February 2015
Joyce DiDonato returns to the Metropolitan Opera on Monday 16 February to sing the role of Elena, the Lady of the Lake in Rossini's La Donna del Lago, directed by Paul Curran and conducted by Michele Mariotti.

In this role Ms DiDonato displays her "technical mastery of the many gnarled fioriture".  Her performances in Santa Fe in 2013 received rave reviews: "her rendition of Tanti affetti [...] showed why that aria is one of the great climaxes of opera history, a gorgeous moment of benediction frozen in time." (New York Classical Review).

Performances take place 16, 20, 25 and 28 February, and 3, 7, 10 and 14 March 2015, please visit the Metropolitan Opera website for further details. La Donna del Lago will also be broadcast Live in HD worldwide on 14 March.
