Music Director of The Philadelphia Orchestra, Yannick Nézet-Séguin, leads the orchestra on their 2017 tour of Asia, marking his third Asian tour with the ensemble. The tour begins in Shanghai (26 & 27 May), continuing to Beijing (30 & 31 May), ending in Seoul (7 & 8 June).
The concerts will feature the works of Beethoven, Stravinsky, Brahms and Tchaikovsky, and will also include the world premiere of Da Jie's Dreamland Overture on 27 May in Shanghai. The tour will also see the orchestra perform for the first time at the Lotte Concert Hall, and make returns to the Seoul Arts Centre, National Centre for Performing Arts Beijing and Shanghai’s International Tourism Resort Zone, which the orchestra opened last year.
The tour will also include a masterclass at the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing, taking place 1 June. Yannick commented:
"I particularly enjoy meeting people through residency activities, and I am especially looking forward to working with the young musicians at the Central Conservatory of Music. Combined with our concerts, these events provide special opportunities to make new friends during this musical journey.”
Watch or listen to a live stream of the Philadelphia Orchestra's concert at the Seoul Arts Centre via KBS Radio and TV on the 8 June.
