Askonas Holt is delighted to announce the addition of Valeriy Sokolov to our roster

Ukranian violinist Valeriy Sokolov is one of the most outstanding young violinists of his generation.  Born in the Ukraine in 1986, Valeriy came to international attention in September 2005, after being awarded the 'Grand Prix' at the George Enescu International Competition.  Still only 26 years old, Valeriy continues to perform with many leading ensembles and has enjoyed collaborating with conductors such as Vladimir Ashkenazy, Andrey Boreyko, Yann Pascal Tortelier, Peter Oundjian, Yannick Nézet-Séguin and Vasily Petrenko.

As an exclusive EMI/Virgin Classics artist, his varied catalogue includes Enescu's Sonata No.3 with pianist Svetlana Kosenko and a DVD of the Sibelius Violin Concerto under Vladimir Ashkenazy and the Chamber Orchestra of Europe.  His recent release of Bartók and Tchaikovsky with David Zinman and the Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich continues to garner high praise from critics worldwide.

Highlights of 2013-14 include a return to the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra under Andris Nelsons as well as engagements with the Seoul Philharmonic and Juraj Valcuha, Santander International Festival with Sir Neville Marriner and the Bayerische Rundfunks Kammerorchester.
