Released today, guitarist Xuefei Yang’s new EP Summertime brings to life six popular songs from the West and East, including classic songs from Gershwin and The Beatles. The EP will also feature one of the signature songs from Chinese pop icon Li Jian, Lake Baikal, in the world-premiere recording of this piece in an arrangement for solo guitar.
Produced by Askonas Holt in collaboration with Platoon – a UK based artist services, A&R and music distribution label - the EP is the third collaborative release between the two companies, the previous being One Day in November featuring Xuefei and joint EP Mi Corazón which saw Xuefei partner with Ailyn Pérez. Both EP’s were available exclusively on Apple Music.
Xuefei’s debut album Romance de Amor on EMI Classics won a gold disc in Hong Kong and her second release, 40 Degrees North was selected as ‘Editor’s Choice’ in Gramophone magazine. Her recent releases include album’s Colours of Brazil (Decca), Songs from our Ancestors and Sketches of China (Decca), the latter continuing her successful collaboration with Ian Bostridge.
