Opéra Royal de Wallonie-LiègeDec 2025The energy of Act II, with these few reservations, carries us along in the expected sonic intoxication, thanks to the thoroughly classy interpretation by Christina Bock (Prince Orlofsky), perfect as master of ceremonies.
Christina Bock’s performance as the cross-dressed Prince Orlofsky is remarkable in every respect. The mezzo-soprano sings her aria “Ich lade gern mir Gäste ein” with taste, avoiding any excess; the timbre is shimmering, and the vocal line carefully shaped

I like to invite myself guests" sings the vocally brightly coloured mezzo-soprano with expressive depth convincingly absorbing, so that the generous nature and the casual tone gestural, mimic and vocal are unequivocally taken away from her. In the stream of fire of the vines" the concentrated temperament of Bock then really breaks ground...
