About Jakub Józef
One of the most beloved and celebrated opera stars of this decade, Jakub Józef Orliński has established himself as one of the world’s leading artists, triumphing on stage, in concert, and in recording. His sold-out concerts and recitals throughout Europe and America have attracted new followers to the art form. An exclusive artist on the Warner Classics/Erato label, his most recent recording accompanied by friend and pianist Michał Biel entitled “Farewell” earned him the prestigious Opus Klassik award for Male Singer of the Year (2023). His new album “Beyond” has been released in October 2023 and will tour throughout the world this season with Il Pomo d’Oro.
Jakub has a global fanbase with hundreds of thousands of social media followers and has worked as a model and influencer with international brands including Netflix, Louis Vuitton, Levi’s, Nike, BMW, Lacoste and MAC Cosmetics. He is also an accomplished breakdancer – prizes include fourth place fourth place at the Red Bull BC One Poland Cypher competition, and second place at both the Stylish Strike – Top Rock Contest and The Style Control competition. Few other opera singers can claim to have conquered the stages of the world’s greatest concert halls and the covers of Polish Vogue, Esquire, and Elle, but this is a testament to Jakub’s unique pop star appeal. His “ravishing” (The Guardian) live performances have sold out concert halls and opera houses all over the world.
In the upcoming 24/25 season, Orliński will continue to tour across Europe with Il Pomo d’Oro at Bayreuth Baroque Opera Festival, Peterskirche Basel, Wigmore Hall in London, NTGent Schouwburg Ghent and Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg. His new project #LetsBaRock with Aleksander Dębicz will also be premiered at Concertgebouw in Amsterdam and at Kammermusiksaal of the Berliner Philharmoniker in September 24. The new year will bring more touring with Il Pomo d’Oro in Asia and operatic performances performing the role of Ottone in Agrippina at Opernhaus Zurich and oratorio performances including Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater at the Grand Théâtre de Genève and Handel’s Deborah in Utrecht, Paris, Vienna and Bayreuth.

Semele
Munich Opera FestivalJul 2023Jakub Jozef Orlinski, the countertenor in the role of Athamas, is also a breakdancer, which Guth spotlights when his character desperately attempts to entertain Semele. Charismatic and handsome, Orlinski stopped the show with the applause his dance earned. But more enchanting was the purity of his sound — sublimely crystalline in “Come, Zephyrs, come” — which blended warmly with the lower end of Athamas’s altolike tessitura.

Orfeo ed Euridice
San Francisco OperaNov 2022The brilliant Polish countertenor, Jakub Józef Orlínski, was almost more than superlative. It was easy to become mesmerized by the performance: there were no intermissions for nearly 90 minutes. His voice is creamy, dynamic, resonant, and with remarkable range. It was hard not to try to hang on every note, each so rich and beautiful in its own right. In addition to this, he sang the whole work with great immediacy. We felt his grief and his disorientation through every stage of its evolution. Hearing and witnessing it, we remained entirely under his spell.

Ozawa’s production features Polish countertenor Jacub Jósef Orlinski, in a physically and psychologically complex presentation of the work. Orlinski displayed a beautiful countertenor, exhibiting both power and expressiveness. He performed Gluck’s most famous aria, Che farò senza Euridice, with such elegance that it was the vocal highlight of the performance.

Berkley: His clarion sound and liquidity of voice produce a focused alto that can describe the curlicues of Baroque coloratura with deadeye accuracy and caress the beauty of long melodic lines.

Tolomeo

BBC Proms - BEYOND with Il Pomo d'Oro
Royal Albert Hall, LondonJul 2024Over an hour-and-a-half, the irresistibly likable Polish countertenor ran the gamut from A to Z, embodying pining lovers, men on the verge, and one of those comical cross-dressing old ladies with which baroque opera abounds. The voice was in magnificent shape, firm, flexible and easily ample enough to fill the cavernous space. The acting, across an unbroken dozen musical numbers, was bold and winning. Costumes, lighting, and yes, a burst of his trademark breakdancing, were all part of a generous mix that roamed across 17th-century Italy and beyond. Orchestral contributions were tight and tangy. In a word, stellar.
