Mozart | Don Giovanni - Masetto
It's fair to highlight the interesting voice of young bassist Pawel Horoddyski, barely 25 years old, still in his formative years and with a promising career ahead of him. He has a powerful, fresh, and well-projected voice. He was the surprise of the night.

This is the case of Paweł Horodyski's particularly vocally polished Masetto, with a diction of great clarity, a beautiful projection and a very great stage commitment which guarantees a notable and particularly welcome concern for expression in a production which demands it. An interesting artist to follow.

Paweł Horodyski is another revelation as Masetto. A true bass…Horodyski has a big voice, strong projection in the consonants (especially the “s’s” and “n’s”—so important to the many “sì, sì, sì” and “no, no, no’s” of the opera). His Masetto feels as empowered as Leporello: masculine, correct, and moral.

Everything about his performance was compelling: his voice, his acting, his commanding presence. In the deception scene with Zerlina, it almost felt like he would morph into a vengeful monster — and it was thrilling to watch.

His partner Masetto, sung by Paweł Horodyski, also has beautiful vocal assurance from start to finish.

Paweł Horodyski is a powerful Masetto who easily competes with the rest of the lower voices on the panel. His controlled, never over-the-top projection and silky legato make the betrayed peasant a sensitive being.
